Matt Abernathy was introduced to elite cornhole in 2017 in one of the cornhole's hotbeds; Cleveland, Ohio. He has been grinding ever since, achieving pro status for the '21-'22 season. Matt's goal is to continue improving so ultimately, he can compete against the world's best on the biggest stages.
Q: How did you start in cornhole?
A: I started out like most players in the backyard playing with family and friends. I started to get serious about playing competitively about four years ago when I went to a Cleveland (Ohio) regional with a friend. In the last few years, I have gradually climbed the ranks and I am now in the pro division.

A: I want to continue to play and elevate my game as much as possible. Ultimately, my goal is to continue to progress and play on the biggest stage.
Q: Who is your tournament doubles partner?
A: I play with Ryan Bishop in all tournaments except for national events, where I play with Ron Kugel.
Q: What is your local cornhole club and where?
A: I play many local blind draws at the Port Clinton (Ohio) Eagles. I split time for regional tournaments in Cleveland, Wauseon, and Lima (Ohio).
